The work of Prometheus in OAKA against Panathinaikos was difficult from the beginning and this was particularly evident from the second period onwards. The home team won comfortably with a score of 93-62, in an otherwise indifferent game for both teams, as the “greens” had already won first place in the regular season of the Basket League, while the visitors would be 4th whatever happened in the game in Athens.
However, “Prometheus” will meet again with Panathinaikos, as next Sunday 31/3 (unless the game is set for Monday 1/4) they will play with the “greens” again at OAKA for the extra round of the championship. We remind you that the first game against Malaga in Spain for the quarter-finals of the BCL will follow on April 2 or 3. Panathinaikos, on the other hand, plays on Friday in Bologna against Virtus for the Euroleague.
It should be noted that Prometheus competed today without Anthony Cowan due to a minor injury, with the home team’s medical team deeming it appropriate to protect the American guard.
THE GAME
From Panathinaikos, Sloukas, Mitoglou and Lessor played little, so did Grigonis, with Ioannis Papapetrou scoring with amazing economy, while Moraitis and Vildosa did the same at guard and Juancho Hernangometh found fantastic phases in the open field. Kostas Antetokounmpo also got a good participation time, in his return to action.
Prometheus fell to 13-9 (8-3 at home and 5-6 away), which also has its mind on European obligations, in the quarterfinals of the Basketball Champions League. The Patras team had a poor performance, they never thought they could claim anything from this forty minute, perhaps logically and they will immediately look to their next assignment. In the championship, however, its next match will be at the same stadium, at OAKA, against Panathinaikos in the premiere of the third round.

ILIAS PAPATHEODOROU IS IN TROUBLE
Obviously dissatisfied with the image of Prometheus, was the coach of the team Ilias Papatheodorou, who stated the following immediately after the end of the match: “We never followed the pace of Panathinaikos. More we came to admire our opponent together with the world! We looked at them, we watched them, we learned, only we didn’t deify them! We played with no energy, we had no luck with this image. So far we have done very well, despite today’s unacceptable performance. We must understand that in sports something does not end on March 15 or 20. Today we were out of the game and that’s all we have to do…”.
