Pope Francis on Sunday called for a diplomatic solution to the crisis in Niger, where the military took power in late July threatening the stability of the region.
“I join the Bishops’ call for peace in the country and stability in the Sahel,” the 86-year-old pontiff said following the weekly Angelus prayer.
“I am following with concern what is happening in Niger and I join the call of the bishops for peace in the country and stability in the Sahel”, added the pontiff.
“I join in prayer with the efforts of the international community to find a peaceful solution as soon as possible for the good of all”, continues Pope Francis.
