Promoting Youth Mental Wellbeing: Insights from the Ministry of Popular Power for Health

MPPS Press. – Every March 2, World Adolescent Mental Wellbeing Day is celebrated, with the aim of raising awareness among the population about the mental health problems that affect young people during their development until adulthood, as well as to destigmatize this type of disorders and offer them support, the objective of this date is to raise awareness about the importance of their mental health and well-being, as well as promote understanding for those who struggle every day with problems related to mental health.

Experts on this topic from the Ministry of Popular Power for Health (MPPS) state that the most frequent disorders in young people are: Anxiety disorder, Major depression disorder, Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, Eating disorder, among others.

Specialists say that it is very important to understand that the brain is changing during adolescence, brain circuits are restructured, new connections are formed and others disappear.

Promoting a healthy life, maintaining a good nutritional status, a healthy lifestyle, practicing regular physical sports, and a good quantity and quality of sleep is essential for the adequate normal development of cognitive and behavioral processes.

They recommend preaching not prohibiting, but limiting, training them and helping them acquire appropriate social skills, these are key examples to help young people move forward in their natural changes.

It is for the aforementioned reason that the MPPS continues to work for mental health in Venezuela, in order to provide a good quality of life not only to young people, but also to all people in the national territory.
