The Ministry of Technical Education and Vocational Training signed, this Monday, May 29, 2023, a partnership agreement with the company Winning Consortium Simandou SAU. This agreement aims to promote training and employment in the country, in particular by emphasizing the development of local content.
The Minister of Technical Education, Vocational Training and Employment, Alpha Bacar Barry, spoke about this cooperation with the private sector and stressed the importance of building the capacity of employment structures in the vocational training centers to provide concrete opportunities to young Guineans.
He also mentioned that this agreement provides initial funding of $1 million over two years. This budget envelope will make it possible to strengthen the capacities of AGUIPE (Guinean Agency for the Promotion of Employment), the National Directorate of Employment and Entrepreneurship, as well as to organize study trips for executives in order to draw inspiration from international best practices, particularly in Singapore, and apply them in Guinea. The minister stressed that this agreement marks the beginning of a broader partnership with all stakeholders of the Simandou project, which also encompasses the promotion of local content.
The Managing Director of Winning Consortium Simandou SAU, Caroline Xiaobei Jiang, is committed to promoting local content in accordance with applicable conventions and laws. She expressed her company’s desire to work closely with the Ministry of Technical Education to build the capacity of teachers and build a network of institutions in Guinea, in order to increase employment opportunities through the department that Alpha heads.
