“Prompt bar”, “augmented advisor”…: French telecoms are taking advantage of generative AI

We knew the salad bar, the oyster bar, the nail bar… But at Bouygues Telecom, it is a “prompt bar” which has just been installed at its Meudon Technopole, in the Paris suburbs. Two to three times a month, near the canteen, the operator’s engineers teach employees the best ways to communicate with an artificial intelligence robot like ChatGPT. Because the more relevant the questions asked (the famous prompts), the less likely the robot will be to “hallucinate” and respond incorrectly.

“Generative AI is a revolution on the same scale as the Internet,” summarizes Stéphane Allaire, director of innovation at Bouygues Telecom. So we want to be an AIGen-ready company.” To do this, the operator has already trained 600 employees, with a long-term objective of 3,000 (i.e. a third of the workforce). Since July, all employees can also use secure ChatGPT to translate text, summarize meetings, etc.
