She denounces it Raya Magazine.

What happened?

The magazine’s director, Edinson Bolaños, received a call from an investigator from the CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office last Friday (October 27).

In the call, the investigator tells Bolaños that he has an order to carry out an “inspection in that magazine to establish the source that you used about some events reported by José Luis Esparza Guerrero.”

Here is the video of the conversation that the journalist recorded:

In response to the magazine’s complaint, the Prosecutor’s Office issued a statement:

In it he explains that this is an investigation by section 515 of the Prosecutor’s Office and that it will investigate whether the directive that protects the professional secrecy of journalists was violated.

However, the magazine considered the statement not sufficient to guarantee the free exercise of the press because:

→ “The notified decision is a flagrant violation of the Political Constitution of Colombia and international standards, so more than a certified copy of the violation of an internal guideline is expected,” they say.

→ “This is not an isolated event, but is part of a systematic conduct of intimidation of the press, and in particular of our media, by the Attorney General’s Office.”

The entity’s statement generated rejection due to the clear violations of press freedom that the call generated:

The director of the Foundation for Freedom of the Press (Flip), Jonathan Bock, tweeted:

Other journalists such as Jineth Bedoya, gender editor of El Tiempo, and Cecilia Orozco, director of Noticias Uno, also condemned the incident:
