The Minister of Public Health in the caretaker government, Dr. Firas Al-Abyad, confirmed that “patients, especially dialysis patients and cancer patients, are a red line for the Ministry of Health.”
He stressed the continuity of providing full care to them to help them in the difficult circumstances in which they are going through under the burden of their suffering illnesses,” adding, “The Ministry insists on providing them with all necessary services in cooperation with government hospital institutions that carry out their duties without negligence and are grateful for their efforts.”

The Minister of Public Health toured 4 government hospitals in the north with the aim of opening new departments and strengthening existing departments with modern equipment to provide services to the Lebanese people and residents, as part of a plan to meet the needs of patients, especially members of the most vulnerable classes.
The tour included Ehden Governmental Hospital, where it received medical equipment provided by the State of Japan, in addition to hospitals in Tripoli, Orange Nassau, and Tannourine.

Tripoli Governmental Hospital and Center
Dialysis chemotherapy
At Tripoli Governmental University Hospital, Minister Al-Abyad inspected the new King Salman Dialysis Center and the Relief and Humanitarian Aid Center, noting that “the center meets a very great need, especially with the extent of the difficulties faced by dialysis patients, especially in some private hospitals that request financial differences.”

The White Minister also visited the chemotherapy department for cancer patients and the diagnostic and radiotherapy departments. Al-Abyad expressed his pride in the cancer treatment services provided by Tripoli Government University Hospital, as it has become one of the most important treatment centers in the northern region. He said: “We appeal to the team working in these centers and other hospital departments, as they fight with live flesh in difficult circumstances, but the administration and the ministry are doing everything possible to meet the efforts of the workers, whose efforts no one can reward, but we are trying to help as much as possible.”

He also thanked the international partners who stood by the Ministry in these difficult circumstances. He specifically mentioned the French Development Agency (AFD) and the International Committee of the Red Cross, which, with the support of the French state and the Saudi state, are presenting a major project in this hospital to develop and improve services, which will increase the absorptive capacity and the hospital’s ability to meet the growing needs in Lebanon, especially in the northern region.

Department of Chemotherapy in Orange Nassau
Al-Abyad opened the chemotherapy department in Orange Nassau. He said in a speech: “The support provided by the Ministry of Public Health to the hospitals in the north expresses its insistence on carrying out its full duties towards its people in Lebanon with all their affiliations and sects, whether Lebanese or residing on the land of Lebanon, despite all Known difficult circumstances.

He pointed out that “the government hospitals that stood by their people during the most difficult times of Corona are still in their position in the advanced ranks alongside their families in difficult diseases, especially cancer patients, dialysis, and others, and in order to provide medical services of the highest quality and at the lowest costs, and in some cases Without any differences.”

Al-Abyad praised “the importance of this existing cooperation with civil society organizations such as Lebanon Center AID, because the Ministry of Health, with all its efforts, will not be able to provide all these services without cooperation and cooperation with all segments of society.” He said: “Despite all the collapses witnessed in multiple sectors, the hospital and health sector is still resisting and performing its duties. There may be negligence in some matters due to the weak capabilities that prevent the ability to provide all needs, but despite the weakness of these capabilities, The projects we launch will help the health system stand by its people and could be the starting point for building the new Lebanon that we all deserve and which we hope will bring a bright and better tomorrow.”
