PlayStation 5 has overtaken Nintendo Switch as the UK’s best-selling console so far this year according to recent data shared by GamesIndustry.biz (va VGC). According to the report shared by the aforementioned media, Sony’s next-generation console has managed to position itself as the best-selling system in the territory thanks to the fact that this experienced a 56% stock increase during the month of August compared to the previous month. This improvement in the availability of PS5 has allowed the device to be placed ahead of the Nintendo hybrid console according to sales data for the first eight months of 2022.
Additionally, according to the aforementioned medium, Switch sales increased 4% during the month of August, while Xbox Series X/S sales “remained flat” during the same month. Of course, if we talk about general data, in the first eight months of the year almost 880,000 consoles have been sold, which represents a decrease of almost 36% compared to the same period in 2021. On the other hand, in these last weeks have reported very positive sales in some video games of the PlayStation family such as Horizon Forbidden West and also the new Saints Row managed to position itself as the best-selling title at the end of August.

Sony announced late last month that due to global inflation and other factors, PlayStation 5 will go up in price in some territories, including Spain, where it already officially costs almost 549.99 euros.
