Racist and Islamophobic remarks; PSG coach arrested

It is reported that the coach of the French club PSG, Christophe Galtier, has been arrested by the police. Archyde.com reported that Galtier was arrested by the French police for making racist remarks.

As part of the investigation, his son John Valovich-Galtier has also been summoned for questioning, reports the news agency AFP. Foreign media reported that the two were being interrogated at a police station in Nice since 8:45 a.m. on Friday. This is followed by an arrest.

The arrest is in the context of an incident that took place when he was the coach of his former club Nice. The complaint alleges he made racist and Islamophobic remarks about players while coaching Nice in the 2021/22 season.

The case has been under investigation since last April. Complainant of Nice’s Sporting Director Julien Fournier. According to the complaint, Gaultier racially and religiously insulted several players on the Nice team. According to the complaint, Gaultier said that he was going to give a new image to the team by avoiding Muslim players as much as possible.

Meanwhile, Gaultier had earlier denied the allegations. Gaultier has also filed a defamation suit against the journalist who published Fournier’s allegations.

Christophe Galtieri will reportedly be replaced as PSG coach at the end of the season. A new case is pending.
