Vienna (OTS) – On Tuesday, July 4, 2023, the City of Vienna – Road Administration and Road Construction will begin the construction of a structurally separate two-way cycle path on Donaustadtstrasse in the section from Neuhaufenstrasse to Lange Allee in the 22nd district. At the same time, green areas will be created and more than 60 new trees will be planted.
Details
The new cycle path on Donaustadtstraße will in future cover a distance of more than 2.5 kilometers and be up to 4 meters wide from Wagramer Straße to Neuhaufenstraße, thus connecting Kagran and Stadlau with a comfortable and safe cycle route. The structurally separated two-way cycle path will be built in three stages and set up along the existing sidewalk or mixed footpath and cycle path on the eastern side of the road (travel direction Kagran). It starts in the section between Neuhaufenstraße and Lange Allee. In order to provide additional shade and a pleasant microclimate, more than 60 new trees and standard shrubs will be planted along this construction section. The main lane in the direction of Kagran will be completely renovated, the existing sidewalk will be repaired in sections.
traffic measures
The work is carried out during the day and occasionally at night. In July and August, one lane will remain open on the main carriageway of Donaustadtstraße in the direction of Kagran. From September, both lanes in the direction of Kagran will be open again – the parallel parking lane will be closed in sections. Bicycle traffic and pedestrian traffic remain intact.
