Workers who have just started working on Cerro Catedral will receive a salary of 380.000 pesos. The rest of the salaries will be around the 500,000 pesos. This was agreed by the Association of Commerce Employees of Bariloche with the company Catedral Alta Patagonia (Capsa) for this winter season.
“It was an agreement within the framework of the parities that we have every year and on this occasion, it was stretched due to inflation. Every month, inflation eats up 10% of our salary,” said the general secretary of the union, Walter Cortez, and stressed that the increase was 6.7%.
The agreement is for the months of July, August and Septemberbut it is contemplated that it absorbs possible increases agreed in the national parity.
«There is a 30% difference with the common trade clerk by job characteristics. The hill worker works in extreme conditions, in the snow,” added Cortez.
The agreement covers about 600 workers. From the union, they indicated that there are about 200 more employees than last year due to “the expansion of work on the hill with the new tracks.”
Cortez highlighted that the agreement included other items such as “work clothes, hot food, water, chemical baths and all the safety regulations”.
