Things got to Public ProsecutionThe Defense Front for the Abbasiya Mental Health Hospital announced that it is closely following up the repeated accidents in which hospital patients fall victim.
The Front, which includes a number of doctors, nurses, and hospital administrators, indicated that it has verified, from reliable sources and documents that the Front will publish in due time, in order to preserve the confidentiality of the ongoing investigations at the Public Prosecution Office, of the death of two patients during the past ten days, whose death raised criminal suspicions.
Two died in hospital
The Front explained: The first patient, 29 years old, was admitted to the hospital in a 19-men developed department on Thursday, corresponding to December 29, and God passed away at dawn the next day, Friday, December 30, after the patient threw two fire extinguishers inside the department, then the third extinguisher exploded in the patient’s face, causing him to suffocate. And his death, and the second patient, aged 36, was admitted to the hospital in the 19-man developed department on Tuesday, December 27, with a preliminary diagnosis of “bipolar affective disorder with psychotic symptoms.” He passed away at around six in the evening, last Sunday, January 7.
Burial permit
The hospital administration notified the Public Prosecution Office to issue a burial permit, causing death, with false information, which stated that the patient fell to the ground after a fight with one of the patients and that he had a seizure. The neck of the deceased patient, so the Public Prosecution decided to request the forensic doctor’s report and investigations.
The Front indicated that it had obtained information confirming that one of the nurses in the section in which the patient was confined physically assaulted him, knocked him to the ground, and pounced on him, strangling him with both hands and taking his life, and the Defense Front confirmed the decision Public Prosecution Imprisonment of the nurse accused of killing the patient and another nurse, in addition to a worker in the department.

The Front appealed to President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi to intervene to save the patients of the Abbasiya Mental Health Hospital, and also demanded the Minister of Health and Population to directly intervene in the investigation of the violations and abuses of patients taking place in the Abbasiya Mental Health Hospital, and the immediate dismissal of the hospital director and his suspension from work until the completion of the Public Prosecution investigations.
