Pune Mother and Son Die After Falling From 18th Floor

A 33-year-old woman and her six-year-old son died after falling from the 18th floor of a Pune residential building on Friday, October 31, 2026. Police recovered a note from their flat written prior to the incident, and local authorities have registered a case of unnatural death.

The tragedy unfolded on Friday evening at approximately 6:30 p.m. at the Signature Park residential society, located in the Thergaon area under the Wakad police station jurisdiction in Pimpri-Chinchwad, Pune. The victims were identified as Ekta Bhangde, 33, and her six-year-old son, Madhav Bhangde. The family, originally from Rajasthan, had been living on the seventh floor of the building for the past two years.

CCTV Footage and Recovery of the Note

According to building CCTV footage, the mother and son were seen taking the lift to the 18th floor. Security recordings also captured them removing their footwear before the fatal fall. Residents rushed to the society duct area after hearing a loud sound, discovering the pair in a pool of blood.

The woman’s husband, Manoj Bhangde, 35, is employed at an IT company in Yerwada. He had left for work at approximately 10:00 a.m. that morning. Following the incident, investigating officers searched the family’s flat and recovered a note.

Health Struggles and Police Investigation

Investigators examining the flat’s recovered note found details regarding prolonged health difficulties. Ekta had been suffering from a spinal condition for years and sought treatment across multiple hospitals, though the exact ailment remained difficult to diagnose clearly. The text indicated that she experienced significant physical suffering and personal anxiety regarding her health.

The written message left behind urged her husband to remarry and move forward with his life after her death. It also expressed worry about how her son would cope in her absence and whether the child might become a hurdle to her husband’s future marriage.

The Wakad police registered a case of unnatural death and launched an active inquiry. Authorities are evaluating the contents of the note alongside the circumstances leading up to the tragedy.
