Putin also said his country is ready to talk with the United States regarding strategic stability in the world and the Eurasian continent in particular. He emphasized that there can be no stable world order without a strong Russia. However, Putin wonders whether the United States is seriously prepared to talk, because at the same time they are talking regarding “inflicting us a strategic defeat on the battlefield (in Ukraine, ed)”.
The president also briefly revisited the leaked news regarding an alleged “nuclear” space weapon that Russia is developing. According to Putin, the leak was a trap to force Russia to the negotiating table.
He also pointed out that the US will only talk if it benefits itself. If they don’t benefit from it, they don’t want to negotiate, it was said. That is where things often fall short, according to Putin. “The negotiations must also be regarding Russia’s interests.”
But Putin also hopes for stronger ties with the rest of the world, with Arab, African and Latin American countries.
