Qatar Airways has announced that it will become the main sponsor of the Formula 1 World Championship for the next five years.
Qatar Airways thus replaces Emirates Airlines, which has been the main sponsor of Formula 1 for the past decade.
Qatar Airways said in a statement that it will also become the official sponsor of the title in three races of the championship competitions this year.
Qatar Airways is proud to expand our sports sponsorship circle to become the main partner for two races a year and the official airline of Formula 1 for the next five years.

The sponsorship announcement comes ahead of the start of the 2023 season, which starts next month.
The season will also witness the start of Qatar hosting one of the world championship races for ten years, as Doha will host a race next October.

The company will become the main sponsor of this race – now known as the Qatar Airways Grand Prix – along with the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix in Italy next May and the Hungarian Grand Prix next July.
Qatar Airways did not mention the value of the sponsorship deal or any other details.

Thus, Qatar Airways adds Formula 1 to the list of global sports sponsorships, which include the International Federation of Football Associations (FIFA), German football clubs Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain.
The 2023 season begins in Bahrain, where trials will be held between February 23 and 25, while the first races of the season will be held on March 5.
