Doha – Group CEO Akbar Al Baker has said that Qatar Airways will phase out its Airbus 380 aircraft in the next few years. Albaker stated at the Paris Airshow that the Airbus 380 has experienced problems and the company will stop using them in the coming years.

Only 8 out of 10 A380s are in service. A350s will be used instead of A380s. In 2020, the A380 planes were grounded following a fault was discovered during the Covid-19 pandemic. In 2021, due to congestion in the air sector, the malfunctions were resolved and the service was resumed.

The case filed by Qatar Airways once morest the manufacturing company Airbus regarding the failure of A380 planes was settled in February last year. An order for 73 aircraft canceled during the legal battles was also reinstated.

Albaker recently announced that it is removing first class cabins from new long-haul flights. This is following the same facilities as the first class are provided to the business class.
