Qatar and Kuwait have established two air bridges to help Türkiye cope with the followingmath of the earthquake that hit the south of the country at dawn on Monday.
An earthquake, measuring 7.7 on the Richter scale, shook Türkiye and Syria at dawn today, followed by an earthquake a few hours later, with a magnitude of 7.6 degrees, causing huge loss of life and property in both countries.
The Qatari News Agency (QNA) reported that the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, ordered an airlift to be established for Türkiye.
“The first flights of the airlift allocated by Qatar to help Türkiye to cope with the disaster of the earthquake will take place today,” according to the QNA.
The first flights of the airlift will carry “a team from the Qatari international search and rescue group, in addition to a field hospital, humanitarian aid, tents and winter supplies”.
Kuwait has also decided to establish an airlift to dispatch aid and medical personnel to Türkiye, following the directives of the country’s emir, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, to support the country in the face of to the effects of the earthquake, reports the official news agency.
UAE President Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also ordered the establishment of a field hospital and the dispatch of two search and rescue teams, and to provide emergency relief to those affected by the the earthquake in Türkiye and Syria, according to the official Emirati news agency.
