Doha: Qatar Tourism honors organizations that contribute to the growth of the tourism sector. The inaugural Qatar Tourism Awards will be announced later this year. 50 awards are given in three categories. The awards are presented in collaboration with the World Tourism Organization. Akbar Al Baqir said that the purpose of the award is to identify and recognize organizations and individuals who provide the best services for the growth and efficiency of the tourism sector in Qatar.
The awards are divided into three categories namely Service Excellence, Cultural Experience and Smart Solution. 50 awards, each with associated categories, will be announced as the inaugural Qatar Tourism Awards. Individuals and organizations can submit their entries online from May 12. Entries must be submitted by July 31. Those selected from all the available applications will be forwarded to a judging panel consisting of experts for the final decision. The winners will be announced at the awards night on November 10 in the presence of dignitaries.
After the applications are evaluated by Qatar Tourism, they may be shortlisted and interviewed if necessary. The judging panel will then select the winners from among the shortlisted candidates. Qatar Tourism Chairman and Qatar Airways Group CEO Akbar Al Bakir and Chief Operating Officer Brethold Trenkel participated in the press conference.
