Qatar will host the 2023 AFC Asian Cup

Qatar won the right to host the 2023 AFC Asian Cup following competing with South Korea and Indonesia.

Qatar has previously organized the tournament twice, the first in 1988 and the second in 2011, while it won the championship title for the first time in its history in the 2019 edition hosted by the UAE.

Last May, China apologized for organizing the tournament due to its policy to limit the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

Qatar’s winning of hosting the tournament for the third time comes regarding a month before the start of the FIFA World Cup on its soil, in the largest football event held in a Middle Eastern country.
