The Qatari group’s channels, which broadcast major European football leagues, the NBA, and other important sports competitions, stopped broadcasting, following the Emirati group informed its customers of the move a few days ago.

And it wrote on its website that “BN channels (…) may not be available as of June 01, 2023,” without explaining the reasons behind that.

In Doha, a spokesman for the Qatari group said in a statement in response to questions from Agence France-Presse that there were “prolonged talks during which we were keen to renew the 10-year partnership with Etisalat, but we regret not extending the partnership.”

The broadcast of “beIN” channels continues in the Emirates through the other telecommunications service provider, “du”, and through the satellite network of the Qatari group, and through the “Todd” platform.

The group’s channels stopped broadcasting for a short time in the Emirates following Abu Dhabi, Riyadh, Manama and Cairo cut ties with Doha in 2017, due to political disputes. The boycott ended with an agreement to resume relations in 2021.
