QMJHL: Riley Kidney gives the Olympiques the victory in overtime

Riley Kidney scored in overtime to give the Gatineau Olympiques a 4-3 win over the Quebec Remparts on Saturday.

The hope of the CH shot while diving and the puck deflected on the opposing defender Nicolas Savoie to end up behind William Rousseau.

Shut out the day before in his first game with his new team, also against the Remparts, Kidney added two more assists to bring his total to 15 goals and 33 assists in 31 games this season.

He first contributed to the first goal of the game, that of Cam MacDonald, then to that of Samuel Savoie who made it 3-1 in the second period.

Colin Ratt was the other scorer in the victory, while goalkeeper Francesco Lapenna had his revenge on the Remparts this time with 27 saves.

Zachary Bolduc forced overtime 40 seconds from the end of the match after Rousseau left his net in favor of a sixth attacker.

Vsevolod Komarov and Daniel Agostino also provided the reply for Quebec.

The Remparts have also announced bad news by revealing that defender Evan Nause will be absent for approximately six weeks due to a broken foot. He wasn’t in training today.

The Eagles are right about the Drakkar

Xavier Daigle had three assists to help the Cape Breton Eagles win 4-3 over the Baie-Comeau Drakkar.

Baie-Comeau struck first in this duel when Isaac Dufort scored his 11th goal of the season. His wrist shot from the left circle surprised Olivier Ciarlo on the mitt side.

The Eagles, however, responded with three unanswered goals. Jacob Newcombe, Ivan Ivan and Samuel Johnson gave Cape Breton a two-goal lead.

The Drakkar however managed to come back from behind thanks to nets from Anthony Lavoie and Charles-Antoine Dumont.

Trevor Thurston broke the 3-3 tie at 7:52 of the third period to put the team ahead for good. Daigle collected his third assist of the game on the winning goal.

Nicolas Ruccia earned the win with a 21 save performance, while Ciarlo made 27 saves in the loss.
