Queen bans royal trio from Buckingham Palace balcony
Prince Harry, Meghan Markle and Prince Andrew will not be waving to the people at the Trooping the Color parade next month – because the Queen has not sent them a balcony invitation.
The British prince and his wife will not be attending the Queen’s 70th Jubilee military parade on June 2 alongside Queen Elizabeth II. The 96-year-old decided “after careful consideration” that this was reserved for those members of the royal family “who are currently performing official public duties on behalf of the Queen,” said a spokesman for the royal family on Friday.
18 members of the royal family have been invited, including heir to the throne Charles and his wife Camilla, as well as his son William, his wife Kate and their three children. For Prince Andrew, the scandal-ridden son of the Queen, there will be no place on the balcony of Buckingham Palace in the traditional “Trooping the Color” parade.
A source at the palace, quoted by Britain’s PA news agency, did not rule out Harry, Meghan and Andrew attending other events as part of the celebrations in honor of Queen Elizabeth II.
The military parade on June 2 kicks off the four-day celebrations of the Queen’s Jubilee. Elizabeth II inherited the British throne after the death of her father, George VI. boarded on February 6, 1952. She is the longest-serving monarch in the world.
