Radio presenter Ernst Grissemann died at the age of 89

The radio presenter Ernst Grissemann passed away a few weeks before his 89th birthday. This was announced by his sons, the journalist Stefan and the cabaret artist Christoph Grissemann, in a press release.

Ernst Grissemann, who was born in Imst in Tyrol, was the first Ö3 boss and later radio director, died on Friday following a short, serious illness surrounded by his family in Vienna. He would have celebrated his 89th birthday on February 18th.

Founder of Ö3

In 1967 Grissemann moved to Vienna to set up the Ö3 radio program under ORF general director Gerd Bacher. From 1979 to 1990 he was appointed radio director on several occasions. His voice shaped the cultural broadcaster Ö1, and he also commented on TV broadcasts of the New Year’s concert and the song contest. Stefan and Christoph Grissemann said he was also active as a speaker, moderator and theater actor until the end.
