Rains in South Africa: the government declares a state of national disaster

Published on :

The South African government has decided to trigger a state of national disaster in anticipation of the rains that will continue to fall on the country in the coming days. According to a press release, this measure should make it possible to facilitate “a large-scale and coordinated response”, while the rains have already caused material damage in different regions as well as several victims. The country thus finds itself in the grip of two simultaneous states of national disaster since the measure has also been used since last week to facilitate responses to the electricity crisis.
