The mother of a premature baby wants to raise awareness of the importance of donating breast milk, while donors are being sought.

Alexandra Labrecque, originally from Chaudière-Appalaches, gave birth to her little girl after 27 weeks of pregnancy last January.
This premature birth forced the lady to stay in the hospital for more than 140 days.
In an interview with our journalist, Ms. Labrecque explains the challenges that accompany such an ordeal.
“It was a lot of mourning. I had a very difficult pregnancy. I had to mourn the loss of my belly, the mourning of normal childbirth, the mourning of a little full-term baby. […] the mourning of breastfeeding was another,” she expressed, moved.

Camille Dumaine, friend of Alexandra Labrecque, felt challenged by her journey.
The latter therefore donated breast milk through Héma-Québec.
To make a difference, the minimum donation is equivalent to around twenty 15 ml bottles.
“I tell myself that for me it was a surplus that was of no use to me or to Elizabeth either. It’s perfect that it’s useful to someone. I know that breast milk has superb benefits for premature babies,” she says.
