Amman: “The Gulf”
Jordanian actress Rakeen Saad described the reactions to her portrayal of the character “Zeina” in the series “The Butcher of Giza” as making her feel great surprise, joy, and horror at the same time.
Saad, who has achieved remarkable successes in Egyptian drama since 2017, said: “I have no words to describe how happy I am because of the reactions I received and felt, and my feelings are mixed in a way that I cannot define.”
She explained that every public success doubles her responsibility and calls her to worry about what is best.
She attributed her ability to embody the character of a young woman with ambitions that exceed her family’s capabilities, who is kidnapped by a serial killer in a dark house and lives in difficult situations before getting rid of her, to serious, diligent and detailed preparations that preceded filming, in addition to a diligent and keen work team led by director Hadi Al-Bagouri.
Rakeen Saad said that the role made her tired and exhausted her psychologically because it required presenting it within two paths that intersected: the first was the real reality of “Zeina” and the second was how the serial killer looked at her according to emotional feelings inherent in dangerous motives.
She added: “The ambiguity, psychological complexities, and hidden hesitation versus the great declared ambition are aspects that required a very precise performance of each scene, and among the difficulties is the rapid change in feelings as a result of fears while trying not to show them in a dark house amidst an unknown fate.”
She emphasized that her sessions with writer Angie Abu Al-Saud, in addition to her review of real events, were important to determine the details of the character’s dimensions, and in the same context, she considered the artist Ahmed Fahmy’s praise of her performance indicative of working within a talented team that wanted collective success.
