From Morocco to Singapore, there are beautiful gardens all over the world. We show you the ten most beautiful ones – according to the tourists who have visited them.

The online magazine «HouseFresh» found out which gardens are particularly popular with tourists. To do this, they examined thousands and thousands of comments on the travel platform Tripadvisor – including how often the word “beautiful” (also in other languages) was commented on in the individual gardens.

We show you which ten gardens have received the highest ratings from travelers’ comments – and which other parks and gardens are also making waves.

Gardens by the Bay, Singapur

In first place is Singapore’s Gardens by the Bay, a 101-hectare park that’s also home to the world’s largest greenhouse. Over 12,300 comments on Tripadvisor describe the park as “beautiful” or something similar.

Majorelle Garden, Morocco

This garden was designed by French artist Jacques Majorelle in 1923 and later purchased by fashion designer Yves Saint Laurent. It is a 10,000 square meter garden with over 300 species of plants from five continents. In the center of the park is also the Musée Berbère, which shows many pieces from the history and culture of Morocco.

Jardin du Luxembourg, France

On the border between Saint-Germain-des-Prés and the Latin Quarter in France lies the Jardin du Luxembourg, a 23-hectare park divided into a French and an English garden. Maria de’ Medici, the Queen of France and second wife of Henry IV, commissioned it in 1612. The garden is particularly famous for the Medici fountain.

Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden, USA

You wouldn’t expect a particularly beautiful garden in Las Vegas, but that’s where the Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden is located. The 14,000 square meter indoor garden is more like a year-round flower exhibition. A team of 120 gardeners, engineers and designers creates an impressive composition of over 10,000 flowers for each season.

Singapore Botanic Gardens

Yes, Singapore is represented twice in the top 10: The botanical garden also arouses great enthusiasm among visitors. It has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2015, making it the first tropical botanical garden to receive this award. It is particularly well-known for the orchid garden, in which there are 1200 different types of orchids.

The Butchart Gardens, Kanada

In 1904 the Butcharts moved to what is now known as The Butchart Gardens. Jennie Butchart, mother and wife, wanted to turn her husband’s depleted quarry into something beautiful – and took up gardening. Now, over 100 years later, the park is a National Historic Site in Canada and attracts thousands of visitors each year.

Kings Park and Botanic Garden, Australien

The park, which is located in the middle of the Australian city of Perth, is considered one of the largest and most beautiful parks in the world. It features over 3000 unique plants, as well as art and a selection of historical pieces from Australia’s history. The park is also known for its scientific research – and for various events, such as outdoor cinema.

Royal Botanic Gardens, Australien

Next in line is another Australian garden, the Royal Botanic Gardens in Melbourne. Almost 4000 comments describe the park, which was founded in 1846, as “beautiful”. The park is home to the State Botanical Collection, a collection of over 1.5 million preserved plants, algae, and fungi. It is the largest collection in Australia and Oceania.

Tivoli, Denmark

Tivoli is a Danish amusement park. It was opened in 1843, making it the third oldest amusement park in the world. But the gardens of the park also cause enthusiasm: More than 3800 users are blown away.

Boston Public Garden, USA

This park was the first public botanical garden in the United States in 1837. It is part of a series of parks known as the Emerald Necklace, which are linked by trails. There are over 600 different trees and flowers in the garden.

Incidentally, only one garden from Switzerland made it into the list: the rose garden in Winterthur.

By the way: June 11th and 12th is Open Gardens Day. Private individuals open their gardens to visitors. You can find out which gardens you could stroll through in your area here. Do you also have a favorite garden? Tell us about it in the comments!
