China’s installed renewable power generation capacity has seen rapid growth in the first eight months of the year as the country strives for green development.
Between January and August, installed wind power generation capacity increased 16.6% year-on-year to around 340 million kilowatts, while solar power generation capacity stood at 350 million. kilowatts, up 27.2%, according to the National Energy Administration.
By the end of August, the country’s total installed power generation capacity had reached about 2.47 billion kilowatts, up 8 percent year on year, the data showed.
China has announced that it will cap its carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060.
The country ranks first in the world in terms of installed capacity in wind, photovoltaic, hydro and biomass energy as it pursues its green development path.
