Rapper Alisher Morgenstern (recognized as a foreign agent) was banned from entering the UAE. The musician purchased a first-class ticket for a flight to Dubai, but at the check-in desk it turned out that after the cancellation of all concerts in the emirates, the artist was completely blocked from entering the country. Initially, Morgenstern could have been blacklisted by the emirates due to his status as a foreign agent in the Russian Federation. The rapper was forced to cancel a concert at the Billionaire club (Dubai), a few hours before which the organizers were told that the event would not take place. The artist learned about the ban on visiting the UAE at the airport
According to Morgenstern, he was not a resident of the UAE and lived in the country as a tourist for several years. When the visa expired, it was refused to be extended. Then the artist moved to Kazakhstan for a while and also lived in Thailand. Later he was informed that it would be possible to return to the emirates. However, at the Thai airport from where he was about to fly to Dubai, he was told: “Sorry, you are not allowed to enter the country.”
Morgenstern’s reaction and future plans
The rapper himself suggested that the ban on entry into the UAE is associated with the actions of people who are jealous that the musician’s life in the new country was going well. In this regard, he stated that he “learned a lot of interesting things,” but could not disclose details now, since “the information is unofficial.”
Morgenstern addressed the UAE authorities, saying that he “really fell in love with this country and began to consider it my second home.” He emphasized that “during his stay in Dubai, he never made any political statements from the stage.” According to the rapper, now he just wants to understand the official reason for the ban.
Lawyer suspects denunciation
Morgenstern was banned from entering the country after an interview in November 2023 with journalist Ksenia Sobchak, noted the musician’s lawyer Sergei Zhorin. Then the rapper announced the ease of bypassing restrictions in the emirates.
However, according to the lawyer, the musician did not violate the laws of the country and could become a victim of an anonymous denunciation. Now we can only hope for a review of the authorities’ decision and a detailed analysis of the situation, Zhorin said in an interview with TASS. The lawyer declined to make any other comments.
