Rashid bin Zayed Corridor to final stage

Dubai – The distance and time from Sheikh Rashid Bin Zayed Road to Dubai Al I Road is reduced. The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that the construction of the Rasal Khor Road, known as the Rashid Bin Zayed Corridor connecting the two roads, is 75% complete. With the completion of the 8 km corridor, the travel time will be reduced from 20 minutes to 7 minutes.

Rasal Khor Road will have a capacity of 10,000 vehicles per hour. The three-lane road was upgraded to 4-lane. Apart from this, there will be two lane service roads. The construction of two kilometers long bridges is also being completed. RTA Director General Mather Al Tayer said that 6.5 million residents of The Lagoon, Dubai Creek, Maidan Horizon, Ras Al Khor, Alwasal and Nad Al Hamar residential complex projects will become direct beneficiaries of the road.

The capacity of Nad Al Hamar Road, which joins Ras Al Khor Road, will also be increased as part of the development plan. The development includes a 2-lane bridge that can handle 30,000 vehicles per hour. The development of Rashid Bin Zayed Corridor is one of RTA’s big projects. As part of this project, the construction of a bridge called Rashid Bin Zayed Crossing, which will connect Dubai Creek with Al Jaddaf in Bur Dubai, will begin soon.

Once the project becomes a reality, Dubai Festival City and Dubai Creek Project will join hands. This will become a new street that will attract tourists. The construction of the Dubai Creek – Dubai Creek Harbor 3 lane bridge which is part of the project itself was completed. The bridge connects vehicles from Dubai – Al Ain Road and Al Khail Road to Dubai Creek Harbour. At present 7500 vehicles pass through it every hour.

The new road and bridge will become a corridor connecting the homes of Dubai Creek with nearby roads. The RTA also informed that the construction of the 640 meter long bridge connecting Dubai Creek to Ras Al Khor is in progress. The new bridge can accommodate 3100 vehicles.

With the opening of a new road and bridge, this area, which is experiencing traffic jams due to overcrowding, will get energy and breath. The project aims to provide seamless traffic similar to Dubai’s main road and boost the tourism sector.
