Rasul Pookkutty against the National Film Award announcement

Thiruvananthapuram: Sound designer and Oscar winner Rasul Pookkutty is on the stage against the announcement of National Film Awards. Rasul Pookkutty clarified that the film that won the best sync sound recording award was not a sync sound but a dubbed film.

Rasul Pookkutty also stated in his Twitter post that this was confirmed by sound recordist Nitin Lukes. Jobin Jayan won the Best Location Sound Recordist award for the Kannada film Dollu, which is given only for sync sound films.

Meanwhile, director and sound designer Nitin Lukos said that he felt sorry for the jury members who could not tell which was a sync sound movie and which was a dubbed movie. Nitin also stated on Twitter that he does not know what happened behind the scenes of the National Award determination and procedures.

A special award for sync sound recording is included in the Best Audiography category. Malayalam Vishnu Govind and Sri Shankar won the best re-recordist award in this category for their film Malik. The best sound designer award went to Anmol Bhave for the Marathi film Mee Vasantarao.
