Ratification of a memorandum of understanding between the Global Fund and CREFIAF

The Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria and the Regional Training Council for Supreme Audit Institutions in Francophone Sub-Saharan Africa (CREFIAF) have ratified a memorandum of understanding aimed at increased cooperation with supreme audit institutions of French-speaking African countries.

“We are pleased to partner with CREFIAF to support the use of external control systems in Francophone African countries,” said Adda Faye, Chief Financial Officer of the Global Fund. Through a collaborative and complementary approach, the two organizations will strive to intensify the use of the “Court of Auditors” in the external control services for Global Fund grants. This approach will promote transparency, accountability and sound governance. Ultimately, all stakeholders in the Global Fund ecosystem will benefit. »

The Memorandum of Understanding will form the partnership framework within which the Global Fund and CREFIAF will coordinate and facilitate the exchange of information, experience and knowledge regarding audit and advisory activities. The partnership will strengthen relations between the Global Fund and the supreme audit institutions that are members of CREFIAF with a view to improving program audits.

“This memorandum of understanding is an important milestone in our approach to working with the Global Fund and supporting the Supreme Audit Institutions of French-speaking African countries,” said Mbah Acha née Fomundam Rose Ngwari, Chair of the Board of Directors of the CREFIAF. CREFIAF has embarked on the path of collaboration to increase the capacities of supreme audit institutions and improve governance and accountability. »

One of the objectives of the Global Fund is to improve the effectiveness of the system of external control of public funds. The MoU supports this goal by aiming for an increasing number of Global Fund grants to be administered through national financial management systems.
