Reading. Lectourois Historical Theater tells Molière

The Théâtre Historique lectourois (THL) troupe welcomed more than 120 spectators to the “Soirées de Molière” played from Friday 7 to Sunday 9 October. This project was born when a little girl asked Pénélope Le Fers-Dupac, the author: “Who is that, Molière?”. To answer him precisely, Pénélope Le Fers-Dupac reread his documents (booklets) and wanted to think outside the box by offering to write about the life of Molière. Jean-Baptiste Poquelin was born in Paris in 1622, he is one of the sons of the master upholsterer of King Louis XIII. Very early on, theatrical performances attracted him, but public opinion discredited the actors by comparing them to acrobats. He meets Madeleine Béjart who is part of a troupe. They unite to create L’Illustre Théâtre in 1643 but the bankruptcy will lead Jean-Baptiste Poquelin to prison for debts. The play was written by Pénélope Le Fers-Dupac and is performed by actors Ada Bonetto, Monique Duprat and her daughter Lisa, Dalila Fourcade, Christophe Lagaeysse, Roland Brun, Jean-Paul Brugnens with her daughters Elyna and Lylie. “And Matthieu Regnaut, our Molière, not only took on his role, like everyone else” but he also helped Pénélope Le Fers-Dupac for the staging and “sacrificed his beard at the last moment to look like the character”. Following several requests, other performances are planned.
