On the 16th of August, mob violence took place in Jaranwala, East Pakistan, on charges of blasphemy, and about thirty Christian churches were set on fire and a lot of damage was caused.

But the allegations have been proven false and the Punjab government has announced financial assistance for the rehabilitation of mosques in violence-hit areas, and as a result of timely reconstruction, mosques are reopening as a sign of hope.

Lahore Archbishop Sebastian Shah said that God allowed the reopening of churches as a result of praying for peace and taking initiatives to build peaceful coexistence of different religions.

The archbishop said that Muslim leader Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, the head of the Ulama Council of Pakistan, was willing to do everything necessary for the marriage of a Christian girl who had lost her home, and said that it was a great example.

About 30 churches and places of worship under various churches such as the Salvation Army, Catholic Church, and Presbyterian Church were burnt down. Four churches have been completely rebuilt.

Although the Christian community does not want punishment for organized Muslim religious groups that incite violent acts against religious minorities, they demand that the government take steps to prevent such incidents from happening again.
