This is the driver who violated STOP 2024-03-15 23:35:53

In the hands of the Traffic Police is the driver who passed the STOP in Menidi, as a result of which the singer Yiannis Xanthopoulos lost control of his vehicle and collided head-on with another vehicle, resulting in the fatal injury of a 19-year-old.

According to ALPHA, this is a 68-year-old man, who, after violating the STOP, a few meters below the point stopped and got out of the car with a woman to see what happened. A few minutes later they left.

A family member contacted the Nea Ionia traffic police and said that the driver is not at home and will appear within hours or days at the police station.

A case file has already been filed against the driver, while the video footage shows that at 5:14 a.m. on Tuesday, he was the one behind the wheel.

A video document available to Newsbomb.gr shows the seconds before the fatal traffic accident that occurred in the early hours of Tuesday, March 12, in which Yannis Xanthopoulos was involved as well as the third vehicle that plays an important role in the accident.

More specifically, the video shows the singer’s vehicle shortly before the fatal collision going down Deceleia Avenue, when a car from Plethonos Street violates the STOP and enters the path of Yiannis Xanthopoulos.

Seconds later, the horrific sound of the crash with the vehicle of the two young men who were driving up Dekelias avenue is heard, resulting in the fatal injury of one.

Menidi: The father of the 19-year-old breaks out against Xanthopoulos – “We will take legal action”

The investigations into the traffic accident in which the singer Yiannis Xanthopoulos was involved are in full progress.

At the same time, the father of the 19-year-old who was killed breaks out in his statements against the artist, saying that he will take legal action against him.

Speaking to ANT1, the victim’s father says: “There is no (greater injustice) than an honest man leaving. To go five hours to his job and leave like that. He doesn’t manage… They just went to work as usual, very good guys. And with those you talk to about the children, they say only the best. I’ve learned it’s the singer’s fault, what the hell is he. Anyway, forgive me for the phrase. No it’s his fault… Para is his fault. Quickly, with speed. With no brakes, it crashed and almost claimed two lives. Not one. And the rest he has left behind, the wounds he has left us. 19 years old, in two months he would be 20,” he continued.

“How come he didn’t have dreams… Didn’t a 19 year old have dreams? As it is and as we have learned the family, to be dignified and lively, to have company and friends, to be respectful. And with the limit of life and with the limit of the deed and the state”, said the 19-year-old’s father at another point and made it clear that he will take legal action against the singer: “Of course we will take legal action. Didn’t they eat a man? And for the dogs they move legally. We want them to get their punishment, what they deserve”, pointed out the father of the unfortunate young man.

My father Yannis Xanthopoulos, Lazaros Xanthopoulos spoke to Super Katerina about his son’s car accident and revealed his condition.

His father characteristically said: “They have put a collar on his neck, he walks heavily, he is psychologically very down. He was discharged. He has a psychologist with him, he is not well. The father of the child who is alive, came yesterday, hugged him, kissed him, only in passing, since he knows him, he loves him.”!

He added: “Yiannis is psychologically depressed because a child was killed. It’s not Yannis’ fault, the other one, they found him the one who got out, he caused the traffic accident. Of course we will hire a lawyer”!
