According to the official measurement of the China Seismic Network, an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.2 occurred in Longyang District, Baoshan City, Yunnan Province (25.35 degrees north latitude, 99.28 degrees east longitude) at 11:27 in the middle of the night on May 2, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers. , Mangshi and other places felt shaking.
A female resident of Baoshan City revealed to the Beijing News that she was about to fall asleep at the time, but she was woken up by shaking. At about 1 o’clock in the morning on the same day, she felt two shocks. The staff responsible for the on-site rescue pointed out that the walls of some houses in Shuizhai Township were cracked, and some roads were blocked by falling rocks.
After the earthquake, houses collapsed and people were trapped. The fire brigade dispatched 603 people, 137 vehicles, 30 search and rescue dogs, excavators, and life detectors. As of 1:00 p.m. today, the earthquake caused 10 minor injuries, 9 of whom have been discharged from the hospital, and 1 remains in the hospital for observation.
Not only the earthquake in Yunnan, a 4.5-magnitude earthquake occurred in Xingwen County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province (28.10 degrees north latitude, 105.12 degrees east longitude) at 1:40 pm on May 3, with a focal depth of 8 kilometers. Chongqing, Chengdu, Leshan and other places obviously felt shaking. Prior to this, at 12:08, a magnitude 4.0 earthquake also occurred in Xingwen County, Yibin City, Sichuan Province, with a focal depth of 10 kilometers.
A Yibin resident revealed that the earthquake did not affect normal life. Xingwen County, where the epicenter is located, also sent police to patrol, and no serious disasters such as casualties were found. After the earthquake, relevant scenic spots under the jurisdiction of Yibin urgently evacuated tourists, and it was reported that some tourists were trapped. In addition, the railway department also urgently blocked the relevant lines, and it was not until 4:00 pm that traffic was gradually resumed.
