With the rain of the last few days, the Semois has increased in density in many places. In Chassepierre in particular, where searches took place this Saturday for a possible drowning. The search has since stopped and the investigation is continuing.

From Moyen to Florenville, via Bouillon or Corbion: it’s the same landscape! Sections of roads and fields took on some water in just one weekend. The Semois has invaded the banks and surrounding areas.

The bad weather in recent days has caused the river to overflow, but even if the landscape is impressive, it is completely normal! “La Semois got out of bed, but there’s nothing special about that! It’s rising slowly,” explains Yannick Collignon, head of the Rivière Semois-Chiers ASBL Contract.

So yes, although this may seem impressive, it is completely normal for the season. “It could be disruptive if there are stormy episodes,” specifies Yannick Collignon.

“We live a few meters away, so we’re used to it but it’s still impressive,” explains Christine, from Moyen. In the coming months, the Semois, like every year, will expand across parts of the province.
