There were 163 passengers and 12 crew members on board, and a total of 7 people, including 4 passengers and 3 crew members, were injured and received initial treatment. The extent of the injury is said to be not serious.
A passenger on the plane, Sultan Vasconiyali, told ABC that the plane “suddenly fell down” and that “we were completely unprepared.”
“One man jumped up and hit his head on the ceiling and fell,” he said.
ABC also showed a photo of a man with an ice pack on his head, with some of the ceiling panels cracked off.
A Hawaiian Airlines plane suffered a serious turbulence accident in December of last year, about six months ago.
