Everything is ready for the reception of the Olympic Flame, which will take place next Thursday at the Rio-Antirio Bridge, in a ceremony that will be combined with the 20th anniversary of the completion and operation of this emblematic project for Greece.
THE Bridge SA intends to convey the glamor that the circumstances require, combining the passage of the Olympic Flame on its way to Paris, with the 20-year anniversary of the infrastructure and of course, with the fact that the main shareholder of the company is the French construction giant Vinci.
According to what he said the managing director & general manager of GEFYRA SA Panos Loukas in his speech, at the Travel West Forum, on April 25, i.e. next Thursday, the Olympic Flame will cross the Bridge.
There, she will be welcomed and held by an employee of the company, who will then hand it over to a symbol of Greek sports, the “Dragon” of Greek basketball, Panagiotis Giannakis, who will light the altar and then start the route on the bridge deck.

As Mr. Loukas said, this will be an image that the Bridge will send to the whole world, a strong message and at the same time a symbolism for Greece that is progressing, that is prospering and building bridges.
THE PROGRAM
According to the program, the arrival of the guests (including strictly with personal invitations) will take place at 1 pm at the Exhibition Center, located in the Liturgy Building).
The event for the 20th Anniversary of the Rio-Antirio Bridge and the reception of the “Paris 2024” Olympic Flame will take place at 1:30 p.m.
The arrival of the Olympic Flame and Torch Relay is scheduled for 14:50 and the Reception Ceremony will take place in the eastern parking lot, near the
Operation Building.
This will be followed by the Touching of the Altar, the playing of the Olympic Anthem, the National Anthems of France and Greece and the raising of the flags.
The National Anthems will be performed by the soprano Gina Foteinopoulou and the Choir of the Kotroni Modern Schools, with piano accompaniment by Zizi Korkontzelou.
Greetings of representatives will follow at 3:20 p.m. there will be the Touching of the Torch and the departure of the Olympic Flame to continue the Olympic Torch Relay on the Bridge.
