A record 4.34 meter alligator was caught in the US state of Mississippi on Saturday. The animal weighs more than 364 kilograms. The hunters needed a forklift to pose with the alligator.

Yazoo City. A group of hunters caught a huge alligator in the US state of Mississippi: the animal was 4.34 meters tall and the four men netted it on Saturday in the Sunflower River in the west of the state, according to the state agency for wildlife and fisheries. The alligator, which weighed more than 364 kilograms, is the longest ever taken in Mississippi.

After catching the animal, the hunters picked it up with a forklift and posed for a photo in the Mississippi Delta town of Yazoo City. The area is in a designated alligator hunting zone.

Alligator hunting season in Mississippi begins on the last Friday of August each year. This year the season ends on September 4th.
