Christian Horner, Red Bull Racing’s F1 team representative, revealed that he had introduced an upgrade to the RB18 at the Emilia Romagna GP, saying that believing in them proved to be the right decision.
The beginning of the European season is a great time to launch the first upgrade package, but the Emilia Romagna GP is a race where the first sprint format of 2022 was put into practice, and the Ractis that can evaluate the upfredo is 1 I only had time.
But in Red Bull Racing, Max Verstappen won, Sergio Perez finished second and 1-2 finishes, and the plan seemed to be successful.
On the contrary, Scuderia Ferrari, who forgot to introduce the upgrade, did not have the pace to challenge Max Verstappen. Charles Leclerc took a spin while chasing second-placed Sergio Perez and ended the race in sixth place.
When asked if Red Bull Racing needed such a result after the disappointment of the Australian Grand Prix, Christian Horner said, “That’s right. We went off the weekend. We brought in a few upgrades.”
“Many people said,’It’s just one practice session, so you shouldn’t do that,’ but we believed in ourselves and it paid off.”
“I think I was unlucky in Australia a few weeks ago, but this weekend I got a maximum of one point here (Perez is third in the sprint), so it’s a great counterattack.”
“It was a pretty stressful race on the pit wall due to changing conditions. There are many things that go wrong in that situation.”
“But I think both Max and the Czech Republic did an incredible job today.”
Starts and restarts weren’t the strength of Red Bull Racing in the sprint, but the situation turned around at the Grand Prix.
Max Verstappen keeps the lead. Sergio Perez started from the slow side of the grid, but moved up to 2nd place. He was even more impressed with Christian Horner.
Christian Horner described it as a very impressive team performance.
“I think I learned from yesterday, but both got off to a great start,” said Christian Horner.
“The left side of the grid seemed a bit better than the right side, but both Max and the Czech Republic got off to a great start. From there it was a matter of controlling the race.”

Ferrari first triggered a change to soft tires for the third stint. It eventually got a tit for tat when Charles Leclerc spun in the attack.
Asked if it was a surprise for Ferrari to switch to soft, Christian Horner said he knew that Red Bull could react and regain the fastest lap anyway.
“I think they were suffering from the right front tire,” said Christian Horner.
“I think that was the trigger. As we saw yesterday, they had to pit in. So we prepared a buffer to cover first in the Czech Republic and then in Max.”
“And today everyone has made an incredible stop. I think it was faster than we’ve already achieved. It’s a great team performance not just on the trackside, but across the Milton Keynes factory.”
The next race will be the first F1 Miami GP. Christian Horner says it’s important for Red Bull to stay strong.
“We now have to gain momentum with this momentum,” said Christian Horner.
“I won the sprint, got pole position, won the final and achieved 1-2 since 2016. It’s a great result.”
