Students from the José Gil Fortoul District Educational Unit and the Vicente Emilio Sojo Bolivarian District School toured the Venezuelan Institute of Scientific Research (IVIC), which is part of the Scientific Route of the National Scientific Seedbeds program, promoted by the Ministry of Popular Power for Science and Technology, to observe advances in regenerative medicine and other scientific projects.
According to a press release, on this occasion, students of 4th and 6th grade of basic education were surprised by the work that they can develop through chemistry with color experiments, non-Newtonian mass and chemical compounds, the same astonishment caused among the boys the fragment of the Ucera meteorite, which rests in the Marcel Roche library.
Another of the spaces visited was the José María Cruxent exhibition hall, where they took a brief but educational journey through the past of the original peoples, while at the Cell Therapy Unit (UTC), of the Center for Regenerative Medicine, they were received by the experts who advance research and protocols with stem cells for regeneration of skin, cartilage, bone, cornea, dental pulp and periodontal disease.
Likewise, in the main auditorium Humberto Fernández-Morán received a talk from Biological Diversity: “why protect and conserve it?”, in which they were explained about the need to conserve ecosystems for the present and future.
For his part, UED professor José Gil Fortoul, Luis Nicolás Febres, pointed out that the experience was wonderful, taking into account that boys and girls generally do not have direct contact with researchers, much less with the work they do. from the laboratories.
“The work that is being done from the scientific routes encourages young people to be more inclined towards scientific careers in the future,” he emphasized.
Meanwhile, Fanny Rojas, a teacher at the EBD Vicente Emilio Sojo, explained that the Scientific Route is a very interesting program for boys and girls, because it stimulates the study of science and technology in them.
“IVIC is a wonderful institute that many of us are unaware of and it is very important to know everything that is done in these spaces. Excellent work on the part of the Ministry of Science with the scientific routes and of all the people who are behind this very important project”, he expressed.
