Caracas.- The deadline for Venezuelans abroadregistered in the Electoral Registry (RE)they can update their data and thus participate in the opposition primary elections, scheduled for October 22, It will end on July 7.
As of Friday, June 23, some 40,000 Venezuelan migrants had registered on the web portal created by the opposition to citizens abroad, according to the National Primary Commission (CNP).
According to the CNP regulations, Venezuelans abroad will be able to vote in the opposition primaries if they are already registered in the RE of the CNE and those who update their data.
For the update in the RE of the primaries abroad, the laminated ID is needed, current or not; in the absence of this, the original Venezuelan passport, valid or not, as long as the identity card number is included in this record.
Here we detail how to register on the digital platform of the National Primary Commission to vote from abroad:
Complete with your ID number, date of birth and the captcha code. Then check “Start Enrollment.” In the next section, choose the country, region and city where you want to vote. Subsequently, fill in the information about email address and contact phone number. Click on save information and you will receive a validation link via email. Once the link is clicked, you must attach the requested images. Once the photos are loaded, the registration will end by clicking on the respective button. Finally, once “Finish registration” is marked, a second email will arrive confirming that the process is complete.
One of the indications specified by the CNP is that, even if the residence data abroad has been updated, the registration must be made, since on this platform you may be assigned the nearest polling place. Also note that this not valid for elections presidential elections of 2024.
Voting centers abroad and their respective tables may be installed two days before the primary. It will be the National Primary Commission that designate the coordinators and main and alternate members of each center and polling station.
The platform created for the registration of Venezuelan migrants was activated on June 7, and the CNP then indicated that the update procedure is only for citizens over the age of 18 who are previously registered in the Electoral Registry.
