Registration for Sound Design Competition Berlin 2022 opens – midifan: we focus on computer music

Hello Chinese friends! Registration for this year’s Berlin International Sound Design Competition has begun! In 2022, every audio enthusiast who participates in this competition will receive a 3-month ZAP II license provided by Zynaptiq, ​​​ 35-day Soundly Pro subscription, ​​​ a copy of Silverplatter Audio’s Forest Ambiences Library.

The Berlin International Film Scoring Competition and the Berlin International Sound Design Competition were launched to the world in Berlin, Germany in 2018 and will hold their 5th competition in 2022. The purpose of the Berlin International Sound Design Competition is to introduce the importance of sound to video and film to the public. , we are offering our winners a wealth of prizes and opportunities to collaborate with sound designers, composers, and other artists from around the world.

We strongly encourage anyone who is interested to participate in our competition. This competition is a global, one of the few international competitions covering sound design and composition, and the participants can be of any age, any nationality, our competition You don’t need to be directly related to the big-budget project, all entrants are equally designing the same animated short film at the same time and competing with composers, sound designers, and other forms of audio artists from different parts of the world. We hope that through This fair form to encourage more excellent artists and designers.

Every participant who wins or fails at the 2022 Berlin International Sound Design Competition will receive​​​ a 3-month ZAP II license from Zynaptiq​​​ 35-day Soundly Pro subscription, ​​​ a copy of Silverplatter Audio’s Forest Ambiences Library. ​ ​​​ ​​​

3 winners will be announced at that time. Three (3) winning sound design entries will be sent to all composers participating in the Berlin International Film Score Competition 2023, laying the groundwork for future collaborations and offering sound designers one of the networking opportunities in the film industry. Composers entering the 2023 Soundtrack Competition will be able to choose from three (3) winning sound design works and use one of their favorites along with their musical original for the Berlin International Film Score Competition.

Peter Albrechtsen
Peter Albrechtsen is an award-winning Danish sound designer, mixer and music supervisor, working primarily in film and documentaries. Recent work includes: Barking Away, Blind Spot, Thelma , and the sound effects recording of “Dunkirk” directed by Christopher Nolan. Member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences (Oscar) since 2017. Peter also serves as Music Director and collaborates with internationally renowned musicians such as Jóhann Jóhannsson, Antony Hegarty, and Efterklang.

Fredi Devas
Primetime Emmy nominee Dr. Fredi Devas is a wildlife filmmaker deeply concerned with the natural world and the challenges it faces. After working on Meerkat Manor and Nick Baker’s Weird Creatures, he joined the BBC’s Frozen Planet and Wild Arabia. On Planet Earth II, he decided to leave the wilderness for production and directing.

Ali Tocher
Ali is a Breakthrough Participant at BAFTA 2020, Ali is the founder of LookListen Game Audio, an outsourcing company that provides services for the audio department of game studios. Ali specializes in creating custom soundscapes using non-traditional techniques, and his career in sound has seen him work in games, film, TV, live broadcast, commercials, virtual reality, live music and contemporary art installations.

Bo Li
Bo Li is an award-winning sound designer. Winner of the 3rd prize at the 2019 Berlin International Sound Design Competition, created the sound design for the animated film “Unforgotten”, the Academy Award Student Gold Award. Bo Li is now an assistant professor of practice at Arizona State University. He has also worked as a sound designer for theme parks, museums, art installations, live theater productions and audio post production at Earsup Sound Design in California.

Mihali Paleologou
Mihali Palaeologu is a composer living in Berlin. His award-winning music has been performed in Europe, the United States, Japan, China and Australia. He is a passionate film music educator and conductor. Mihali is the art director of the Berlin International Film Scoring Competition and founder of Fusion Film Scoring Workshops.

specific process:

The process is very straightforward, we will send you a high-definition animated short film of about 5 minutes. Each participating artist needs to use all their own sound effects or Foley sound to complete the sound design of the film within the specified time. Sound designers can use other sound libraries or software to synthesize their own sound effects. Experienced sound designers from the film industry will select 3 winners and 10 finalists.

For entry to the Berlin International Sound Design Competition 2022, entrants will have the opportunity to create an original sound design for Objectif 3D’s stunning film Lost in Time. The story tells of two children playing in a temple. One of them touches a mysterious sphere, and time suddenly stands still.
