A figure to start: Reims is the 7th most searched city in France on Airbnb in view of the Olympic Games, according to the American platform. The Marne sub-prefecture is taking advantage of the Paris Olympics which are to be held between July 26 and August 11, in particular its sublet market. At least two Reims concierge services are taking advantage of this, between them they represent more than 500 properties for rent in Reims. “Aux Clefs des Sacres” takes advantage of this: “in Reims today we are sold out for the duration of the Olympics“says its manager, Mickael Bitsch-Rufin. “At first, to be completely transparent, I didn’t believe in having so many requests being 45 minutes from Paris. Today I’m a little less surprised since as soon as accommodation becomes available, the dates are requested very quickly.“
Rentals that leave in a short time
These accommodations are leaving all the more quickly as Mickael’s company brings in 5 to 8 per month, apartments or houses.which are immediately reserved for this period“, he explains. But who takes the trouble to reserve their place of residence in Reims and not in Paris during the Olympic Games? “We have a lot of customers who come from the United States“, he continues. There are also Belgians and Dutch people who have already booked in the apartments managed by Fabien Baijot’s Reims concierge service.. “It’s only 3/4 of an hour by TGV to Paris. And the TGV is not the most expensive, so he will still have transport to go to the Olympics. If the tourist comes here for it is much cheaper and even with his train ticket, he still saves money.“
Around sixty apartments and houses have already been reserved for the two weeks of the Olympic Games, or a third of the apartments he manages. “We didn’t expect so much enthusiasm for reservations in Reimssubscriber Mickaël Bitsch-Rufin. We’ve been hearing about the Olympics for a few years now and once again, we didn’t necessarily expect there to be so much enthusiasm for a provincial town and not a suburban town.“
Prices which increase accordingly
