Triumph that excites and gives confidence. Gimnasia thrashed Platense 3-0 on their visit to Vicente López and added three vital points in their fight to qualify for Zone A of the League Cup. Cristian Tarragona, Ramón Sosa -both from penalties- and Eric Ramírez, from a cross shot, put definitive figures on a round night.
In a demanding night and with undeniable pressure, Pipo’s Wolf began making himself respected in Vicente López. The speed of Eric Ramírez, who is always demanding with his great physical display, and Johan Carbonero were cards of enormous value for the Wolf to make a very good difference in the first forty-five minutes.
They, protected by the always judicious contribution of Cristian Tarragona, undressed rude flaws of the defenders of the Squid.
Although Platense had a period where he cornered Gimnasia (there Bertolo converted what was the transitory tie, but through VAR Penel annulled it), the local facilitated the albiazules plans with an alarming fragility in the rear.
Ramírez scored the third and Gimnasia felt that it might not escape him.
In the initial stretch of the complement, Pipo’s Wolf got a key hammer blow with the third goal shout. That allowed him to play more calmly and managed the times in a context where he no longer felt the urgency of the first chapter.
The limitations of a desperate Platense due to the numerical difference, helped Gimnasia to savor the victory even in full swing. The procedure was done flat and only the high level in the performance of Cristian Tarragona, increasingly important in the identity and offensive strength of the tripera, delivered a leap in quality.
Gimnasia, with this victory on the Calamar court, adds 15 units and is three (3) behind Defense and Justice, which currently occupies the fourth and last place in the classification. The Halcón will visit Sarmiento this Thursday, and from then on there will be nine points at stake that will define the four that will be in the next instance.
Lobo’s next rival will be Unión, this Saturday from 2:00 p.m. at the Bosque stadium. To stay on and in the race, those from Gorosito will have to add three to their people.
Best moments of the match
Four minutes into the first half Eric Ramírez got into the area and when he was regarding to dribble, they committed a clear offense that was reviewed by the VAR anyway. After decreeing a penalty for Lobo, Cristian Tarragona opened the scoring following a soft shot in the middle.
Despite the advantage, Gymnastics suffered the brand in the background. So much so that at 11 the Squid found a goal following a corner in favor, but the VAR interfered and annulled the goal alluding that Nicolás Bertolo was in an advanced position.
At 37 minutes the Wolf would increase the advantage once more from twelve steps. A grab in the area to Johan Carbonero -and another intervention of the VAR-, was reason for Penel to decree a new penalty that Ramón Sosa, of good execution, exchanged for a goal and the partial 2-0 for Gimnasia.
Already at stake for the complement, Néstor Gorosito’s team thrashed Platense 3-0 with goals from Cristian Tarragona and Ramón Sosa, both from the penalty spot; and another by Eric Ramírez.
Ramírez’s goal came precisely in the second half following a very good collective play that he himself started. After combining with Alemán, Carbonero also participated who with a good pass, enabled the 43 who finished off crossed and extended the albiazul advantage.
Gymnastics took advantage of the local errors and pure goal was planted better on the field of play. Before reaching 15 minutes of this part, Nicolás Colazo entered, and Eric Ramírez left with an annoyance.
Soldano, Leyes and Muro also entered for Tarragona, Alemán and Carbonero, the latter having a good match to vindicate a little the weak performances that he had been having.
This is how the end came and with hugs in between, the Gymnastics players celebrated the win that gave them ground in the fight for a place among the first four.
