Just days before she was due to start her next fight, the traffic accident happened on the east lane of Interstate 94.
According to the Minnesota State Patrol, the Chevrolet Malibu in which the 21-year-old was a passenger crashed into a Jeep Cherokee.
Shalie Lipp was apparently the only person involved in the accident who was not wearing her seat belt, which is why she was fatally injured in the collision. All other occupants survived.

Shalie is the daughter of locally renowned sports host Rollie Lipp and was considered a standout athlete, excelling at Perham High School in Minnesota as a track and field athlete. Through her talent in gymnastics and boxing, she quickly discovered mixed martial arts (MMA) for herself.

Eric Sweeney, the 21-year-old’s personal trainer, paid tribute to Shalie with emotional words. “My heart is completely broken. You were such a wonderful person, full of promise and drive. One of the few people I’ve ever met who really aspired to something big,” the statement said.
“I will never forget you. The thought that I won’t see you again this week, or ever, is beyond my comprehension,” said Eric Sweeney.
