Remove them immediately: 12 things in the house that imperceptibly destroy your psyche

1. Broken things

Something that it is high time to throw out, but the hands do not reach. Chip figurines, a torn blanket and other similar things – everything is “beaten”, frayed, bruised or damaged. These objects litter the space and affect our perception. It makes sense to get rid of them in the first place. Send everything that is torn, worn, and killed for the sake of a healthy psyche.

2. Dirty things

Being determines consciousness, and it has long been established that our environment, the external world, incredibly strongly influences the internal. From the point of view of psychology, the context and atmosphere from the outside not only influence, but also reflect the internal processes and state of a person.

Soiled, something with spots, dirty, dusty – all this is an illustration of the “mess” inside. There are two exits:

  • either to clear the space and objects, thereby “cleansing” the mind as well,

  • Or get rid of that kind of stuff.

3. Things that cause bad associations from the past

Human memory is inherently associative. For us, objects are not just things, but memories and associations. And attention should be paid to what meaning our psyche attaches to this or that object – what associations it evokes. And then choose whether we want to constantly look at this object and experience “those” feelings or not.

This category includes

  • belongings of deceased loved ones,

  • gifts and personal belongings of former partners or friends,

  • any objectified memories of some period or event in life (magnets, interior and household items).

4. Bright lights from electrical appliances

Electronics with LEDs on in the background should ideally not be in the bedroom. Even a small red light in the corner of a turned off TV can disturb the normal production of hormones during sleep. What can we say about the flickering computer keyboard and other luminous objects.

A separate harm to the psyche can be caused by chandeliers / light bulbs / lamps that are malfunctioning and “flashing” – like in horror films.

5. Dark pictures

Canvases with a depressing plot, gloomy images of any kind are a great addition to the interior, if we are talking about some thematic establishments. But arranging your home in a similar style is fraught with consequences. The constant presence in an atmosphere of oppression, depression and negativity inevitably affects the internal state. With the arrangement of housing in this regard, one must be as careful as possible.

6. Things that make unpleasant sounds

For example, creaking. These can be old door mechanisms that creak with every interaction, floorboards, faucets, and so on.

A sound, especially a subjectively unpleasant one, can be literally unbearable. Remember, for example, how a nail held on glass sounds. And if there are unpleasant sound triggers in the apartment that constantly affect, the psyche will not thank you.

7. Dust collectors

Perhaps someone will find the abundance of small decor items cute and cozy – this is a matter of taste. But still for most a heap of “1000 little things” creates a sense of chaos. We are talking about huge racks with figurines, vases, shelves with all kinds of disparate objects, and so on.
