Representative of HM the King attends President Erdogan’s investiture ceremony in Ankara

Ankara – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rachid Talbi Alami, represented, on Saturday in Ankara, His Majesty King Mohammed VI, at the investiture ceremony of the President of the Republic of Turkey, Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, who was re-elected for a third term.

The inauguration ceremony took place at the presidential complex in Ankara, in the presence of heads of state, representatives of governments, legislative institutions and international organizations.

The inauguration of the Turkish President also took place in the presence of His Majesty the King’s Ambassador to Turkey, Mohamed Ali Lazrak.

Earlier in the day, President Erdoğan took the constitutional oath in the Turkish parliament, marking the official start of his third presidential term, after receiving the investiture document from the parliament’s acting speaker.

After taking the constitutional oath, the Head of State visited the mausoleum of the founder of the Turkish Republic, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, before returning to the presidential complex to participate in the investiture ceremony.

When Mr. Erdoğan’s convoy arrived at the presidential complex, 101 cannon shots were fired during this ceremony, which was attended by the presidential symphony orchestra, the Turkish traditional music ensemble and the orchestra military band of the Turkish Armed Forces.

At the end of this ceremony, President Erdoğan will hold a reception in honor of the guests at Çankaya Palace.

On Thursday, the Supreme Election Commission announced the final results of the second round of the May 28 presidential election, which saw the re-election of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan with 52.18 percent of the vote.
