Resumption of Firefighting Activities on Ganghwa Manisan as Forest Fire Extinguishment Reaches 86%

The firefighting efforts on Mount Manisan in Ganghwa Island, Incheon have resumed. The Central Forest Fire Prevention Headquarters of the Forest Service maintained a night response system and began extinguishing the main fire using 11 forest fire helicopters at around 6 am on the 27th. A total of 1,426 people, including 43 pieces of equipment, are currently engaged in extinguishing the fire. The wind strength, which was previously 11m per second, is expected to decrease to 5m per second, which will speed up the evolution work. The forest fire occurred on the 26th at around 2:44 pm in Manisan, Hwado-myeon, Ganghwa-gun, Incheon. The fire did not spread to the Manisan Water Purification Temple and surrounding facilities, which hold state-designated treasures such as the temple. As of 6:00 am, the length of the flames is 2.2 km, and the forest fire extinguishing rate is 86%. Firefighting work has resumed on Mount Manisan in Ganghwa Island, Incheon.

The Forest Service’s Central Forest Fire Prevention Headquarters maintained a night response system last night, and started extinguishing the main fire by deploying 11 forest fire helicopters from around 6 am today (27th).

Currently, 1,426 people, including 43 pieces of equipment such as fire trucks and forest fire extinguishers, have been put into the extinguishing work.

The strength of the wind, which once blew up to 11m per second, is expected to decrease to 5m per second, speeding up the evolution work.
